Key Takeaways

  • Airbnb rolled out a redesigned logo along with refreshed website and app interfaces platform-wide
  • The update reflects a broader brand and product repositioning rather than a purely visual change
  • The redesign follows recent CEO-level moves to expand Airbnb’s offerings beyond traditional home rentals

Airbnb is giving its brand a fresh look.

The company has introduced an updated logo alongside redesigned versions of its mobile app and website, bringing a more consistent visual identity to the screens hosts and guests use throughout the booking process.

According to PCMag, the overhaul reaches across Airbnb’s main app, desktop website and other customer-facing touchpoints, including search results and booking confirmations.

The changes appear to be part of a broader product and brand push rather than a simple cosmetic update.

The short-term rental booking giant calls its redesigned logo the “Bélo,” a looping symbol that resembles both an upside-down heart and a capital “A.”

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said during a webcast on Wednesday that the company considered thousands of versions before settling on the final design, which Airbnb hopes will become a recognizable symbol of belonging.

“Airbnb stands for something much bigger than travel. It stands for belonging,” Chesky said. “We hope that whenever you see [the new logo], you know that you’re not alone.”

Alongside the branding update, Airbnb has redesigned its iOS and Android apps and refreshed Airbnb.com with a cleaner layout, larger photos and a more uniform look across devices. The homepage also now includes a personalized Discover section that recommends destinations based on places travelers may be interested in visiting.

Airbnb has spent the past several years expanding beyond its roots as a home-sharing platform, adding new services and reshaping how travelers search, plan and manage trips.

For hosts, the most noticeable changes are likely to appear in the way listings are displayed across search, maps and booking pages.

Those surfaces play an important role in how quickly guests evaluate a property, compare options and decide whether to book. Even small changes to photo placement, listing details or navigation can affect how properties appear to travelers.

Hosts using channel managers, pricing tools and other third-party software will also be watching to see whether the redesign remains largely visual or comes with deeper changes to Airbnb’s underlying platform.

For now, the rollout gives Airbnb a more modern look as the company continues working to position itself as more than a place to reserve a vacation rental.
