Vacation rental property management platform Escapia has named Joel Schoen as its new general manager.

The leadership change comes as property managers continue adopting new booking and operational technology across the industry.

Schoen brings nearly 20 years of experience in the vacation rental space, along with expertise in operations and hospitality leadership.

Schoen most recently served as Principal at STR Ventures Group and Chief Executive Officer of CiiRUS Vacation Rental Solutions, where he led the global hospitality tech platform and improved commercial growth and revenue performance of the Love Rentals business unit.

His career also spans leadership roles at Choice Hotels International, BookingPal, and Luxury Retreats.

“Joel understands the formula of what operators need to succeed,” Tim Rosolio, Vice President of Vacation Rental Partnerships at Expedia Group told REWire Media in a press release.

“He has a track record of helping property managers turn hard work into real growth, and that operator-first mindset is exactly what we want driving the platform. Under his leadership, we are confident Escapia will keep raising the bar for what property management software can do.”

As General Manager, Schoen will oversee Escapia’s strategy, operations, and product direction, working closely with the team to shape the platform’s next chapter of modernization and improved user experience.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work across hospitality, distribution, and property management technology, and every experience has reinforced the same lesson — when property managers succeed, the entire vacation rental ecosystem benefits,” says Schoen.

“Escapia has earned its reputation by listening to operators and building technology they can rely on. I’m looking forward to helping shape the platform’s next chapter as we continue our legacy of delivering quality stays for travelers and incremental growth for our operators and their owners.”
