Two U.S. beaches made this year’s World’s 50 Best Beaches list, giving travelers two stateside spots to add to their summer vacation bucket list.

Siesta Beach in Sarasota, Florida ranked No. 28 on The World’s 50 Best Beaches 2026 list, while Flamenco Beach in Culebra, Puerto Rico ranked No. 41.

The annual ranking placed the two North American destinations alongside vacation hotspots in the Philippines, Greece, Australia, Fiji, Mexico, and the Maldives.

Siesta Key’s quartz-crystal shoreline sets it apart from other Florida beaches

It’s not surprising that Siesta Key made the list.

Siesta Beach’s appeal starts with its sand.

The Sarasota County beach is known for its bright white, quartz-crystal shoreline, which helps the sand feel cooler than typical beach sand even during Florida’s hottest days.

The beach received a major upgrade in 2016 through a $20 million renovation that added visitor-friendly features, including a new playground, more restrooms, two concession areas, and improvements to its Sarasota School of Architecture pavilion.

The recognition is not new. Siesta Beach also ranked No. 1 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 lists for Best U.S. Beaches and Best Places to Visit in Florida.

In 2025, it was named the top beach in the U.S. and No. 4 worldwide in Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards.

The report detailed Siesta Beach as a hotspot that “stays cool to the touch even under the hot Florida sun” and that the “odds of perfect beach days are much higher than average.”

Flamenco Beach gives Puerto Rico a spot on the global list

Puerto Rico also made the ranking, with Flamenco Beach in Culebra landing at No. 41 on The World’s 50 Best Beaches 2026 list.

The beach is known for its horseshoe-shaped bay, calm shallow water, and flat white sand, making it one of Puerto Rico’s most popular day-trip destinations from San Juan.

Visitors can find food and drink stalls, showers, and umbrella rentals nearby, while snorkel tours and Culebra day trips often package transportation and activities together.

Flamenco Beach also has one of the more recognizable landmarks on the list, including abandoned U.S. Navy tanks covered in graffiti along the shoreline, a reminder of the Navy’s former presence on Culebra.
